Abstract
A review of EU Digital Policy in response to threats and opportunities of digitalisation.
This paper presents an analysis of the threats and opportunities of the digital transformation to democracy as well as a review of European Union (EU) policy in this regard. This paper, therefore, has two purposes: to reflect on how digitalisation can 1) be a threat and 2) an opportunity for democracy; and to reflect on the development of EU policies in the face of the above.
About the author
Sofia af Hällström is a researcher from Finland with experience conducting research in the private, public and academic sectors. She holds an MA in Sociology and Business Management from the University of Glasgow and an MSc in Public Policy and Human Development from Maastricht University. She is interested in the role of digitalisation in public policy, rights-based development and social inclusion, all of which are at the forefront of her work.
