6th Soft Power Conference – The Transformative Role of Culture, Cultural Diplomacy and Creative Industries, Naples, May 26, 2025
In the City of Naples, celebrating its 2,500th anniversary, the discussions of our conference centered on "Connectivity"—a theme of vital contemporary relevance—as a tool for rethinking interdependencies, fostering dialogue, and strengthening cooperation in the wider Mediterranean.
Connectivity in a world of growing conflicts and confrontation can be the key to a new vision of Soft Power not just as a tool to exert cultural influence but as an interaction between different cultures. The very culture and founding values of the international community today put at serious risk by violations of international law can represent bridges between different cultures, between North and South, East and West, to promote a new international order based on peaceful coexistence and respect for the rules that the international community has given itself. In this framework - strictly linked to the Digital and Technological Transitions - we must try to build dialogues and interactions between the different existing Soft Powers and Cultural Diplomacies in search of a new common ground. The Mediterranean can represent a laboratory to build innovative forms of material and immaterial connectivity to reduce conflicts and divisions.
